And for that I say thank you...

There are a lot of inspiring women that are often viewed as role models and idols to many young black women today. Any where from the musicians, singers, writers, models, and activist, black women are embodying the essence of being phenomenal. Setting trends, owning businesses, and breaking grounds where no one has gone before. We are truly amazing.

One woman in particular I’d like to thank is my mother. Raising four children on her own, working a full-time job, and never once complained about having too much on her plate. I remember her waking up an hour before she woke us up just to get her peace. Dragging three kids out the bed every morning just to make sure they were on time for their future. Chasing down school buses so her son could get the ride he needed to ensure his path was bright. Dropping off twins at daycare just to beat the morning rush hour traffic. Cooking dinner, looking over homework, running baths, tucking beds, just to get up the next day and repeat the cycle.

And for that ma, I say thank you.

You’ll never know the true strength of a mom until you’ve realized the sacrifices they’ve made on your behalf. I remember thinking my mom was the most over protective parent that never allowed me to do anything or go anywhere.

And for that ma, I say thank you.

My momma never allowed me to throw a pity party a minute overdue and has always supported me no matter how wrong or right I was. She has always allowed me to make my own decisions and trusted me enough to make good on my promises. She taught me how to respect myself as a woman and how to carry myself with dignity and self-pride. My mom may not know but I thank God he saw fit to bless my life with her.

There is not a woman alive, famous or common I’d trade for the one God has already blessed me with.

If you were blessed enough to have a mother or mother figure in your life, say thank you. You only get one mother a lifetime so cherish yours like I cherish mines. No one will ever love you like a mother does.

One time for my “Shawty Lo”

I LOVE YOU MOMMA! I PRAY GOD CONTINUES TO BLESS YOU! You don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to throw in towel and you were right there to pick me up when I got weak. You’ve always nursed my wombs and helped me back to my feet. I’m forever indebted to you.
