Be Grateful!
I attended a vision board party awhile back with my best friend when I met a beautiful young lady with an incredible story. The one thing that stuck out to me was her smile. Everything she did, she did with a smile. I remember thinking to myself like “she is so happy.” I engaged in a conversation with her, but nothing would prepare me for the story she was about to share and the journey to her new-found happiness.
Her children had been murdered, and her husband had committed suicide. Can you image losing your family in one day? I nearly lost it when I lost my father, but this woman had been striped of titles some woman wait lifetimes to hold. Wife. Mother. She said, “I smile because at one point I didn’t know how.”
Here I am, mad at the world about failing daily task or missing an important deadline and this woman was smiling in spite of. What could have taken her out of the race made her testimony greater. The little things we complain about others wish they had the pleasure of enduring.
Long story short, things could always be worst. Someone is always going through something worse than you, so count your blessings. God is too wise to make a mistake and to just to do wrong. Trust Him with whatever you fear may consume your happiness.
The realist reality check I’ve ever had in life was listening to the triumphant story of that brave woman that day. Often, I refer to it when I can’t find steady ground in the ways life throws me. God knows how I thank him for the blessing he made from her and her journey.
Smile more often, you never know who needs your sunshine.
Blessings!
